The Fluorescence Correlation Spectrometer is used to measure the diffusion velocity of particles marked with fluorescent dye in solutions. -When a marked particle diffuses through a microscopically small laser focus, fluorescent light is emitted during the transit time. The autocorrelation is determined from the detected light and from this the diffusion time and particle number are determined.
