Bellco Autoblot Micro Hybridization Oven

The Bellco Autoblot Micro Hybridisation Oven consists of an incubator with an integrated rotisserie. The rotisserie has the capacity for up to 4 large hybridisation flasks Alternatively, any combination of large or small flasks can be used. Hybridisation in flasks is considered by many molecular biologists to be the best method for performing hybridisations with Northern, Southern, Dot, Slot or Colony blots, as the user only needs enough hybridisation fluid to cover a very small portion of the membrane at a time. This results in the need for a much smaller volume of hybridisation fluid than any other system.

The rotisserie ensures that the liquid moves continuously across the membranes and comes into contact with all parts of them. The temperature is monitored by a platinum RTD and precisely controlled to ¶ñ0.5oC. The digital controller allows precise temperature adjustment (0.1oC). A fan in the oven ensures even heat distribution and thus a very accurate and precise temperature is achieved throughout the oven. The rotisserie is controlled by a separate ON/OFF switch and rotates at approximately 7.5 rpm. If the rotisserie becomes contaminated, it can be easily removed from the oven for decontamination, as can the stainless steel drip tray at the bottom of the oven. This has the added benefit that the oven can be used as a normal incubator when not required for hybridisation. The Bellco Autoblot Micro Hybridisation Oven includes an integrated glass door that allows the user to check the experiment without disturbing the temperature in the oven.
